Who are we?

The Backroom Chiropractic Clinic and Stapenhill Chiropractic Clinic are trading names of Bennar Limited. We treat patients to relieve pain and restore health and well-being.

References to ‘we’, ‘our’ and ‘us’ in this Privacy Notice are references to both The Backroom Chiropractic Clinic and Stapenhill Chiropractic Clinic. References to ‘Clinics’ means both the The Backroom Chiropractic Clinic and Stapenhill Chiropractic Clinic.

Why we have a privacy notice

Patients of the Backroom consult us for treatments and attend for consultations in our clinics in Birmingham and in Burton on Trent.

In order to make appointments, and for us to provide accurate advice and treatment, we will need to collect information about you. This is ‘personal data’ under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The Clinics are a controller of your data and we must tell you what your rights are as well as how we collect, store and use your data.

This privacy notice may be amended from time to time. The current version of this policy will be made available to you on our website.

Whose personal data do we collect?

The clinics collect and process personal data about individuals who may be current, prospective and former patients as well as fellow professionals.

What kind of personal data do we collect?

We collect personal data from you such as your name, date of birth, residential and email addresses as well as any other information we ask you to provide for treatments and on our website or social media pages. We also sometimes keep copies of your medical records and keep notes on your medical and treatment history to help us with your on-going treatment.

How do we collect your personal data?

We will collect your personal data from you when you fill in a new patient questionnaire and will update our records on you when you visit us.

If you use our website, or interact with us online, we may also collect personal data (eg cookies, IP addresses etc) automatically from your computer or device. Please see our cookie policy for further information we collect on line.

Collecting data from third parties

To assist in our diagnosis, on some occasions it may be necessary to collect information from third parties including fellow professionals such as your GP or a hospital. We shall store this data with your records.

How do we use your personal data?

Our legal bases for collecting and using your personal data will include:

  • to pursue our legitimate interests such as:-
    • making appointments for you
    • communicating with you with regard to treatments
    • to comply with our professional obligations such as those required by the General Chiropractic Council
  • to comply with our legal obligations, such as :-
    • those imposed by HM Revenue and Customs

Some categories of personal data, such as medical information, is called “special categories of personal data” under the GDPR. We will always get your express consent to collect, store and use this type of personal data in the ways set out in this privacy notice.

We will retain your personal data, for the purposes set out in this privacy notice, until you ask us to delete it or until eight years after your last appointment.

What happens if you don’t provide us with the requested personal data?

To provide accurate advice to you and for the best treatment we will need to collect certain personal data. It may not be possible to provide you with access to all our services without your personal data. We will advise you (either when you request our services or correspond with us) what personal data we require. If you do not allow us to collect your personal data we may not be able to accept you as a patient.

Who do we share your personal data with and why?

If you were referred to us by a third party we may be obliged to share your personal data with that third party:-

  • to pursue our or the third party’s legitimate interests such as:-
    • making appointments for you
    • communicating with regard to treatments
  • to comply with our legal obligations such as:-
    • those imposed by HM Revenue and Customs

What are your rights in relation to the personal data we collect and use?

You can ask to see a copy of the personal data we hold about you. You can ask us to correct any errors in your personal data or to delete it.

You can also complain about the way we have used your personal data if you think that we have not complied with this privacy notice or the relevant data protection legislation. To do this, you should write to us at the address below.
